Fr. William Wagner, ORC was born in Santa Barbara, California in 1950, the third of seven children. He went to Rome in 1972 to study at the ‘Angelicum’, the University of St. Thomas Aquinas, where he finished with his doctorate in theology in 1983. His doctoral dissertation was entitled: “The Mission of the Angels in the Economy of Salvation”. During his studies in Rome he joined the community of the Work of the Holy Angels, a spiritual movement with its headquarters in Austria. Shortly after his ordination in 1977, he participated in the restoration of the Medieval Order of the Canons Regular of the Holy Cross in from Coimbra, Portugal. After the restoration, the Order of Canons Regular of the Holy Cross was commissioned by Rome with the guidance and leadership of the spiritual movement, the Work of the Holy Angels. Fr. Wagner spent the first 43 years of his priesthood in Europe, mainly in Rome, Italy, at St. Petersberg near Innsbruck, Austria and in Fátima, Portugal. He has preached retreats in Italy, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and France. During the 1980’s and early 90’s he also preached extensively across the United States in over 45 states. In 2015 he was reassigned to the Order’s St. Gabriel Monastery in Carrollton, Ohio, where he continues his peaching ministry.
